Mr. Anthony, a 72-year-old male in room 2, was admitted to the palliative care unit from home this morning with Dr Johnson as the attending physician. His primary caretaker is his daughter, Shelly B. Now, Anthony is distracted and does not answer my questions. Shelly, who said he is Catholic, told me to come back a few hours later when he might be in the right state of mind. I informed the nurse and asked to be informed as soon as the patient and his caregiver were ready for me to come back. Pain and case management and pastoral care have already evaluated his pain and will inform the healthcare provider if the pain is unmanageable. |
